CHILD SAFETY ADVICE
As a parent, you should always be thinking about your child’s needs first. Your personal needs and desires MUST take a back seat to the safety and well-being of a child. How can a child be injured, molested, abused or abducted if the parent or legal guardian has taken all the correct and necessary steps to insure their safety? This means, knowing where your child is at ALL times. Don’t leave your child with just anybody (who might be available), when you need a babysitter. Don’t leave dangerous or potentially dangerous items where your child can access them. The list goes on and on.. The best advice I can give you, is this:
1. Be Proactive - anticipating problems and taking affirmative steps to deal positively with them rather than reacting after a situation has already occurred.
2. Use “Common Sense” – for baby’s sake!
3. Educate Yourself – don’t assume anything. Be willing to listen to other Mothers or individuals who offer advice. The Internet is a great resource for learning. I’ve included many links on SECURECHILD. Take some time and get acquainted.
